Welcome To QueensWay Restaurant

Queensway Food registered in Maryland on October 23, 1996; opened its first restaurant on November 11, 1998 in the town of Riverdale Maryland.
When Dr. Kayode and Atinuke Ogunsalu came to America from their native country of Nigeria many years back, they hoped to enjoy restaurants or “bukaterias” that would be the hallmark of delicious and healthy African meals. Places where they could relax with friends and family to enjoy soul food from Africa. Such restaurants were not available then.

It is the incomparable African Spirit that guided them to start Queensway Restaurant; a place to eat African food, share their culture and celebrate occasions no matter how small or large.
Mrs. Ogunsalu had a passion for cooking and making cakes, especially delicious African Styled meals. On graduating with a degree from Truman College, in Chicago, she proceeded to Washburne Trade School for two years of Chef studies. After graduation, she worked as a chef at several hotels including the Hyatt and Sofitel.
In 2017, Queensway was fortunate to win the first ever Jollof Festival in Washington DC (U.S.). This allowed Queensway to represent Nigeria and officially prove that Nigeria prepares the best versions of one of Africa’s most debated dishes; Jollof Rice. In addition, Queensway has gone on to earn recognition at many competitions and food centered events.
More recently, in 2018; Queensway was able to satisfy the need for expansion with a brand new location in Bowie, Maryland. This new location was just in time to celebrate the 20 year milestone Queensway reached that year.
